Katie McChesney

Katie Mcchesney is a dedicated environmental and social justice advocate with extensive experience in program management and campaign strategy. Currently serving as the Program & Engagement Manager at the UBC Centre for Climate Justice since September 2023, Katie co-founded and holds multiple roles within the Sunrise Movement, including Campaign Manager and Tour Manager, since May 2016. Previous positions include Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Momentum Training Institute from June 2020 to August 2023, and US Divestment Campaign Manager at 350.org from October 2012 to March 2019. Katie has also contributed as the Ohio Student Environmental Coalition Coordinator for Power Shift Network and as a Board Member for the Ohio Alliance for People & Planet, showcasing a deep commitment to grassroots organizing. Early career experience includes a managerial role at the YMCA of Central Ohio from February 2005 to May 2011. Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government and Environmental Science from Capital University, earned between 2007 and 2010.
