Rui Tam Mendes has extensive experience in the advertising and marketing industry. Rui began their career at Altice Portugal (formerly TMN) as an Advertising and Brand Manager, where they played a key role in the rebranding of the telecom brand. Mendes later joined Elec3city as an Account Director, working on projects such as the first Musical Festival for Kids in Portugal.
Rui then moved on to McCann Worldgroup as a Group Account Director, where they developed successful campaigns for clients including Sagres Beer and TAP. Mendes went on to co-found BAR Advertising, which saw significant growth and was recognized as the "Agency of the Year" for three consecutive years before being acquired by Ogilvy Worldwide.
At Cheil Worldwide Inc., Mendes opened and established the Portuguese office, achieving a positive P&L within a year without network investment. Rui then returned to BAR Advertising (now BAR Ogilvy) as the Strategy and Operations Director, leading the agency's business transformation and helping create successful digital campaigns.
Mendes later joined Cheil Worldwide as the Head of Retail Transformation, working on retail projects to enhance engagement and increase sales for Samsung UK. Rui then joined Ogilvy & Mather as a Global Business Director, managing multifunctional teams, collaborating closely with media agencies, and delivering impactful campaigns for key brands.
Most recently, Mendes joined Philips as the Global Brand Creation Lead, overseeing a team responsible for creating global campaigns and revamping the consumer journey for the OneBlade shaver.
Currently, they hold the position of Head of Client Services at Sunshine, where they are responsible for managing client relationships and ensuring the delivery of quality services.
Rui Tam Mendes completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Management from Nova School of Business and Economics. Rui attended this school from 1998 to 2003.
