Caren Stark

Caren Stark serves as the Assistant Dean for Academics and Department Manager of the Biological Sciences at the University at Albany, SUNY, since September 2010, bringing expertise as a Senior Research Scientist in investigating novel therapeutic targets against Gram-positive pathogens and examining riboswitch-regulated gene expression. Prior to this role, Caren Stark was a Research Associate at the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute, where work focused on developing therapeutics against streptococci and analyzing host-pathogen interactions. Earlier experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the Food and Drug Administration, concentrating on virus-host interactions and phage-based detection strategies. Caren Stark holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Biology from the University at Albany.
