Risa Okina

Visiting Assistant Professor at SUNY Potsdam

Risa Okina's work experience includes roles such as a Visiting Assistant Professor at SUNY Potsdam starting in August 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a freelance pianist starting in 2013. Risa also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Temple University from September 2013 to October 2022. Risa has also worked as a Collaborative Pianist at Villanova University from September 2019 to October 2022. Risa began their career as an Accompanist at Clay High School, where they worked from September 2012 to May 2013.

Risa Okina pursued their education in the field of music theory and piano performance. Risa obtained their Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from Toho Gakuen School of Music in 2009. Following that, they attended Indiana University South Bend from 2010 to 2012, where they earned a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. Risa then enrolled at Temple University in 2013 and completed their Master of Music degree in Music Theory in 2015. Risa continued their academic journey at Temple University and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Music Theory in 2020.
