Dr. Mohammad A. Zaidi is the former Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Alcoa. As a member of Alcoa’s Executive Council, he was responsible for corporate technology programs and projects, as well as strategic product and process developments. Besides, developments in the core primary aluminum production, Mohammad also led product and applications developments in Alcoa’s end markets such as Aerospace, Automotive, Packaging, Buildings, Oil & Gas, Heavy Transportation, Consumer Electronics, and Defense. He also served as Executive Vice President of Alcoa responsible for Market Strategy and Corporate Quality functions.
Overall, two thirds of Mohammad’s career has focused on technology management and the other third on manufacturing and business management on a global scale. A key highlight of the manufacturing / business career was responsibility for starting a green field plant in Germany for the first, all aluminum Audi A8 and managing the Plant.
As a council member of The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), he previously co-chaired ‘Vision 2050’ project in collaboration with 29 Global companies. He was subsequently named co-chair of WBCSD ‘Business role’ focus area. Mohammad currently serves on the “Technology Advisory Group” of Lockheed Martin. He also advises some large corporations and startups on applications of advanced technologies and applications in new market segments.
