Paul O'Connor has an extensive work history in the gaming industry. Paul currently holds the position of Studio Game Director at SuperNatural Studios since November 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Amazon Games as a Game Director from April 2020 to October 2022.
From 2018 to 2019, Paul was the Executive Producer at Daybreak Game Company LLC. Before that, they served as the Design Director at Capcom Game Studio Vancouver from March 2017 to February 2018. In this role, they directed the design of an unannounced original console game IP and briefly led the Puzzle Fighter mobile game effort. Paul also contributed to studio-level direction and provided career management for senior designers.
Paul O'Connor worked as a Game Director at MZ's San Diego studio from October 2014 to November 2016. During this time, they developed unannounced original titles and assisted in the design and deployment of new features for live games.
Prior to that, Paul was the Brand Director at Appy Entertainment, Inc. from October 2008 to September 2014. In this role, they were responsible for the development of the Appy brand and product design. Paul co-created several original franchises and helped guide the studio through a pivot from premium to freemium monetization.
At High Moon Studios, Paul held the position of VP/Design Director from 2002 to 2008. Paul was part of the management team that led the transformation of Sammy Studios into High Moon Studios. Paul co-created the original horror-western property Darkwatch and directed the design of The Bourne Conspiracy. Paul also played a key role in the studio's acquisition by Vivendi and its emergence as a premiere internal development studio for Activision after the Activision-Blizzard merger.
Paul O'Connor began their career in 2001 as a Producer/Senior Game Designer at Electronic Arts, where they worked on developing original video game properties. Paul also briefly worked with the Need For Speed team. Prior to that, they were the Lead Game Designer at Oddworld Inhabitants from 1996 to 2001, where they worked directly with Lorne Lanning to help develop and expand the Oddworld IP.
Paul O'Connor attended Foothill College from 2011 to 2013, where they earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in History.
