Marten Hoekstra

Senior Advisor at Supernova Companies

Marten Hoekstra has been engaged in financial services businesses for 35 years both leading and advising firms globally. Marten was CEO of UBS Wealth Management Americas and a member of the UBS Group Executive Board. Prior, he took on the role of Deputy CEO within Global Wealth Management where he held both Group and Business Division roles in Zurich, Switzerland. He led Market Strategy and Development for the division that included Global Wealth Management and Swiss Retail Banking with responsibility for strategy, M&A, marketing, the technology offering for advisors and clients, and the development of advisory and sales management capabilities.

He began his career as an advisor trainee in Grand Forks, North Dakota, spending 26 years at UBS and its predecessor firm PaineWebber. Subsequently, Marten became CEO of Emerging Global Advisors, a start-up ETF firm specializing in Emerging Market equities which was sold in 2016 to Columbia Threadneedle, the asset management arm of Ameriprise.

Marten is a Senior Advisor to China International Capital Corporation and other financial services related organizations. He is Chairman of The Private Wealth Partners, a young company that accelerates new private wealth enterprises. Marten is a former Director of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. He is currently a board member of Prison Fellowship Ministries, the Zurich International School Foundation, and the University of North Dakota Alumni Association and Foundation, where is he the Chair of the Investment Committee. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, with a B.A. in political science. He earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Marten and his wife, Val, reside in New York City. They have four adult children.
