Michelle Chuang

Michelle Chuang has worked in the gaming industry since 2003. Michelle began their career as a Marketing Artist/Illustrator for Macrospace, where they created web graphics, print design & layout, promotional illustration and in-game graphics & illustration for projects such as Alpha Wing, Fatal Force, Ancient Empires, and Dragon Island. In 2004, they moved to Glu Mobile as a Senior Artist/Illustrator. In 2007, they joined Playfish (London HQ) as an Art Director and Senior Art Director, where they were in charge of the art style and guideline, art production pipeline, graphic and UI design, game concept & design, and company branding. In 2009, they joined Electronic Arts (EA) as a Senior Art Director, providing consultation on the Art Direction and Creative Game Design on some of their social game titles such as The Sims Social, as well as some of the prototyping projects. In 2011, they became an angel investor for Bubbleology, a company that successfully introduced Bubble Tea to London's Soho and have subsequently opened branches in some of the City's top department stores and shopping locations. In 2015, they became an angel investor for Dazzle Rocks, a Helsinki-based game studio that successfully raised $6.8 million to fund the development of its Minecraft-like mobile MMO in a recent round of financing. Finally, in 2012, Michelle became the co-founder and a Game App Developer of Supersolid, which specialises in developing game apps for mobile phones and tablets, featuring award-winning characters and receiving millions of downloads. As the Chief Operating Officer, they have helped build the company from the ground up, and the Supersolid team has grown from 3 to more than 50 people over the years.

Michelle Chuang has a diverse educational background. In 2000, they earned an Associate of Art Degree in Computer Arts from Academy of Art University. In 1997-1998, they attended Imperial College London and studied Biochemistry. In 2015, they earned a Certificate in Practical Financial Management for the Small Business from City, University of London. In 2019-2020, they earned a Certificate in MBA Essentials from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Additionally, Chuang has obtained numerous certifications, including a Sustainable Business Strategy from Harvard Business School Online (2020), Crime101x: The Psychology of Criminal Justice from edX (2020), Code Foundations Career Path from Codecademy (2020), 7.00x: Introduction to Biology from MITx on edX (2020), 003x: The Extremes of Life: Microbes and Their Diversity from edX (2020), Astrobiology and the Search for Extraterrestrial Life from Coursera (2020), Introduction to Algae from Coursera (2020), MusonicX: Music Technology Foundations from edX (2020), Virus101x: Viruses & How to Beat Them: Cells, Immunity, Vaccines from edX (2020), Finance for Non-financial Manager from AAT (2015), and Flash Website Creation from the University of the Arts London (2009).
