Process Development Engineer at Supira Medical

Jimmy VanWestenberg has worked in the engineering field since 1999. Jimmy began their career at JDS Uniphase as an Engineering Technician, where they developed processes for new product assembly and wrote SOE detailing how assemblies were built. Jimmy then moved to Nitinol Devices & Components, Inc. in 2003 as an NPD Technician II, where they were responsible for material characterization of device and competitive product using Scanning Electron Microscopy, and evaluated and optimized manufacturing process steps and tooling for a novel carotid Embolic Protection Device. In 2007, they joined Conor Medsystems as an R&D Technician II, where they were responsible for setting up, running, and troubleshooting pulsatile fatigue testers used to qualify a novel coronary stent. In 2010, they moved to BAROnova, Inc. as a Principle R&D Technician, where they designed multiple prototype iterations of medical device using silicone injection molding, and designed, built and documented multiple test fixtures to increase efficiency and performance reliability for manufacturing of device components. In 2017, they were promoted to Senior Associate Engineer at BAROnova Inc., where they contributed to the manufacturing process development for the PMA device, which successfully completed device feasibility testing and chronic animal study endpoints. Jimmy also created various processes for manufacturing of device components and authored various MPIs for use in manufacturing. In 2019, they joined Phoenix Deventures Inc. as an Associate Engineer, and Atia Vision as a Process Development Engineer. In 2021, they joined Supira Medical as a Process Development Engineer.

Jimmy VanWestenberg attended Mission College/Santa Clara University.
