Supreme Steel is currently looking for a safety conscious, solution driven, highly efficient individual to join our fabrication team in the position of Yard Crew Lead at our facility in Acheson, AB.  This is a full time, unionized position working on our day shift. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Yard Crew Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the moving of steel materials and product and the processing, stocking and organizing of inventory.  This position requires an individual who can anticipate change, plan resources, execute work, deliver on schedule, and optimize material management practices.  Leading a small crew of individuals, the successful candidate must possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to guide and motivate employees.

Having proven experience in the structural steel fabrication sector, the successful candidate will adapt with changing dynamics while being positive, motivated, strategic, and committed to a high level of integrity.  With a demonstrated ability to gain knowledge quickly, follow safety policies and procedures while promoting and ensuring a safe work environment, the Yard Crew Lead will also possess the following attributes:

  • 3 years working in the Structural Steel industry in a materials management position
  • Has established leadership, organizational and time management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and structural steel materials
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the aptitude to effectively solve problems while working collaboratively in a fast paced team environment.
  • Capacity to effectively plan and organize to meet production needs
  • Proficient in operating a forklift, with valid Forklift Operating License
  • Basic Microsoft Office computer skills, ability to learn new company inventory database
  • Overhead crane operating experience is considered an asset.

     Successful candidates will be required to pass pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing, as well as Physical           Fitness to Work Mobility Testing as a condition of their employment.  Reliable transportation to the facility is Acheson is also required, as there is limited public transit.
