Patricia A. Maryland

Patricia A. Maryland, Dr.PH. has served as a director of Surgery Partners since February 2021. Dr. Maryland served as the Executive Vice President of Ascension and President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascension Healthcare from July 2017 to July 2019. Prior to those roles, Dr. Maryland served with Ascension Healthcare as President, Healthcare Operations and Chief Executive Officer from July 2013 to July 2017 and Ministry Market Leader, Michigan from September 2007 to June 2013. Dr. Maryland has been a member of over 25 boards in the nonprofit, private, joint venture, and public sectors and has been the recipient of multiple awards, including being named one of the Top 25 COOs in Healthcare in 2017, one of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015 by Modern Healthcare, Woman of the Year in 2014 by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, and one of Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare also in 2014. Dr. Maryland received a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Alabama State University, Montgomery, and a master’s degree in biostatistics from the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a Doctorate of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh, concentrating in health services administration and planning.
