Brian Murphy has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Brian started their career at Lake Communications as a Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead in 2001 and worked there until 2005. From 2005 to 2007, they worked as a Senior Real Time Software Engineer at CommProve. In 2007, they were a Realtime Software Contractor at InTune Networks for a short period. Brian returned to InTune Networks in 2008 as a Principal Software Engineer and worked there until 2010. From 2011 to 2012, they were a Principal Software Engineer at Oregan Networks. In 2012, they joined NDS / Cisco as a Contract/Consultant Software Engineer and worked there until 2013. Brian then worked as a Contract/Consultant Software Engineer at Oncam Grandeye in 2013. From 2012 to 2014, they were a Principal Software Consultant at Bluewire Consulting. In 2015, they worked as a Consultant Software Engineer - Real-Time Embedded on contract at SSTL. Their most recent position is as a Flight Software - Mission lead- Realtime Embedded at Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL), which began in 2016.

Brian Murphy completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration from The Open University in 2011-2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Degree 2.1 in Electronic Engineering with Telecommunications from the University of Limerick between 1988 and 1990. Brian also holds a Diploma with Distinction in Computer Engineering from the same university, earned between 1985 and 1988.
