Brien Gemmell

Brien Gemmell has a diverse work experience primarily in the field of sports coaching and education. Brien has served as the Head Coach for the White Rock Whalers Jr. A Hockey Club since 2023. Prior to this, they were the Lead Instructor for the Pacific Titans Hockey Program starting in 2019. Gemmell also worked as a Teacher/Athletic Director at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School in Surrey Schools (School District #36 Surrey) since 1998.

In addition, Gemmell has been actively involved with BC Hockey, starting as a Coach Mentorship in 2017 and later becoming the Chair of BC Hockey School Programming Advisory Group from September 2018 to April 2019. Brien was the Head Coach for Cloverdale Colts U18 AAA in the Cloverdale Minor Hockey Association from May 2018 to April 2023, and also served as the Coach Coordinator from April 2016 to April 2020.

Furthermore, Gemmell held leadership positions in the BC Secondary Schools Football Association. Brien was the Past President from January 2020 to June 2022 and served as the President from January 2017 to January 2020.

Brien Gemmell obtained a Bachelor's Degree/Teaching Certificate in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning/Physical Geography from Simon Fraser University, where they attended from 1991 to 1995. Additionally, they obtained an HP1 Coach Certification from Hockey Canada in July 1995.
