Robert E. Butler

COO & Principal at Surveying and Mapping

Rob Butler joined SAM in 2004. He has over 28 years of experience delivering expert multidisciplinary professional services in the AEC industry. His experience at SAM has spanned the full-range of responsibilities involving business development, project management and financial management with an emphasis in airborne, mobile and terrestrial LiDAR, engineering design surveying, boundary and right-of-way surveying, and construction surveying. As the Chief Operating Officer, he is responsible for leading operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems, to effectively grow the organization and ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.

Rob has been a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Texas since 2002 and is a graduate of the Surveying and Mapping Technology program at Tyler Junior College. He is a member of industry associations including Texas Society of Professional Surveyors, National Society of Professional Surveyors, American Council of Engineering Companies of Texas, and the Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveyors.

Rob’s favorite SAM core value is Excellence in Service. His belief that providing the highest quality products and listening to the clients’ needs establishes long lasting relationships and is fundamental to the continued success of SAM. He is actively involved in his community through his work in the TxDOT Adopt-a-Highway program and Camp Quality Texas, an organization that provides year-round support to children diagnosed with cancer and their siblings.
