Jon Plimpton

Jon Plimpton has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Jon is currently a General Partner at CDI Global and has been in this role since September 2013. Prior to that, they were the Owner and President of International Business Management, Inc. (IBMI) starting from January 1991.

In 2016, Jon founded Plimpton & Company, where they serve as the Managing Director. Through this company, they provide investment, acquisition, advisory services, and mentorship for start-ups and early-stage businesses. Starting from 2018, Jon has also worked as the Chief Operating Officer at Sustainable Botanicals International, Inc., a specialty ingredient company.

Jon has also played various advisory and board member roles for different organizations and companies since 1990. Additionally, they served as the Executive Director & General Manager at ObjectiD, Inc. from June 2013 until June 2016. Prior to that, Jon took a leave from IBMI to become the Director of International at Church & Dwight, a consumer product company, from June 2000 to December 2005.

Before their work at Church & Dwight, Jon held the position of VP International & Managing Partner at Prince Sports Group, a tennis and leisure products company, for almost two decades. Jon also gained experience as the Director of Export Marketing at Penn Athletic, a division of GenCorp (General Tire), from 1981 to 1983.

Jon's early career includes their role as the General Manager - North America and Asia at Mexicana Airlines from 1977 to 1981. During this time, they contributed to the growth of the airline, increasing its flights and market share in the US/Mexico market.

Jon Plimpton completed their Secondary School education at Mt. Hermon School (now Northfield Mt. Hermon) from 1964 to 1966. Jon then attended Case Western Reserve University from 1966 to 1970, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Anthropology. Later, they pursued their postgraduate education at the University of Chicago, graduating from the MBA 190 Program in International Business/Trade/Commerce between 1971 and 1973.
