Sustainable JC

We are a Collaborative Network of professionals and students, teachers and scientists, chefs, artists, gardeners, engineers, musician, and everything in between, but above all else, we are members of the community who care about what is going on. We are constantly working to have a positive impact on the community and environment, and hope our work can facilitate the creation of similar groups all over the world. Our members are mainly from Jersey City, but extends into the surrounding area. The mission and focus of Sustainable Jersey City is to encourage community partnerships and neighborhood actions toward making Jersey City a more sustainable and resilient place to live and work. In that spirit we are committed to developing more effective ways of working with municipal officials at all levels and have undertaken three main activities to work with civic minded stakeholders. These align with the Sustainable Jersey Actions that Jersey City has just been certified for. Community Outreach & Education Sustainability Planning for Neighborhoods Innovative Demonstration Projects The above includes developing a broad platform for community engagement, bringing resources - including participatory planning tools and funding - to stakeholder groups for green neighborhood initiatives and structuring a framework for ongoing civic leadership development and sustainability focused educational opportunities.
