Principal Design Researcher at Sutherland Labs

Jun C. has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. They started their career as a Research Assistant and Illustrator at the Center for Mind and Brain, where they collaborated with psychologists to create illustrations for children's psychology experiments. They then worked as a Graphic Designer at Davis Dollars, designing promotional materials for a community currency organization.

Jun C. later joined TEMCo - Tower Electric Motor Company as a Web Marketing Intern, where they managed a database for e-commerce platforms and analyzed competitors to improve product offerings. They eventually became the Web Marketing Supervisor, collaborating with sales and engineering teams to streamline processes and gain a competitive edge. Additionally, they worked as a Designer at TEMCo, producing data-driven deliverables informed by user research and establishing style guidelines for packaging and marketing materials.

After that, Jun C. co-founded Bloom, a company dedicated to serving local trans people through health fairs and legal clinics. They conducted design research and gathered feedback to improve future service offerings. They also worked at SprOUT Family Inc. as a Service, User Experience, and Visual Designer, facilitating user workshops and prototyping website designs and service iterations.

Currently, Jun C. is employed as a Principal Design Researcher at Sutherland Labs, an insight-led design agency. They contribute to the multidisciplinary team by using a human-centered approach to reimagine and design services that enhance business growth and improve customer and employee experiences.

Jun C. obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Design and Psychology from the University of California, Davis in 2010. Jun also has additional certifications in Ethnographic Research Design and Innovation from EPIC People, and Design Kit from NovoEd, obtained in 2023 and 2016 respectively.
