Jose Alberto Arevalo, M.D. has extensive work experience in various medical leadership roles. Jose Alberto began their career as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of CA Davis from 1986 to 1993. Jose Alberto then held the position of Regional Medical Director in Prudential Healthcare from 1995 to 1997. Dr. Arevalo served as the Chief Medical Officer at United Healthcare from 1997 to 1999 and Regional Medical Director at Blue Cross of California from 1999 to 2000. Jose Alberto was also the Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs at Health Plan of the Redwoods from 2000 to 2001. In 2003, Dr. Arevalo joined Sutter Independent Physicians as the Senior Medical Director and later became the Chief Medical Officer. Jose Alberto held this position for various periods between 2003 and 2019. Additionally, from 2007 to 2017, they were the Physician Advisor Case Management for the Sutter Health Sacramento Sierra Region. Dr. Arevalo also contributed to the California Health and Human Services as a member of the California Master Plan for Aging Stakeholder Advisory Committee from 2019 to 2020. In April 2022, Dr. Arevalo assumed the role of Chief Medical Executive at Sutter Independent Physicians.
Jose Alberto Arevalo, M.D. completed their medical education at Stanford University School of Medicine, earning their MD degree in Medicine from 1976 to 1980. Jose Alberto then pursued further specialization in Family Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco - School of Medicine, where they completed a Residency program from 1980 to 1983. Afterward, they continued their studies at the same institution, completing a Fellowship in Family Medicine from 1985 to 1986.
