José Barreiro

Mr. Barreiro is a member of SVP funds’ Advisory Council and is primarily involved in furthering the European franchise, in particular Spanish relationships.

Mr. Barreiro has more than 30 years of experience in the banking sector. He has held a number of executive positions at BBVA from 1998 to 2012, including Global Head of Corporate and Investment Banking from 2005. He was also a member of BBVA’s Executive Committee at Group level from 2005 onwards and most recently a Senior Advisor to the bank.

Prior to BBVA, Mr. Barreiro held senior positions at a number of financial organizations, including Banco Santander, Bankers Trust Company and Chase Manhattan Bank. In addition to nonprofit board roles, he was, until recently, Deputy Chairman of Bolsas y Mercados Españoles, the operator of all stock markets and financial systems in Spain.
