Joanne Johnson

Joanne Johnson has a comprehensive work experience spanning several roles and companies. Joanne is currently working at Swale Borough Council as the Head of Regeneration, Economic Development and Property, and Interim Head of Planning since May 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Head of Regeneration, Economic Development and Property at the same company from June 2022 to May 2023. From September 2021 to June 2022, Joanne was the Head of Regeneration and Economic Development at Swale Borough Council.

Before joining Swale Borough Council, Joanne worked at Medway Council for a significant period. Joanne'sroles at Medway Council include Strategy, Policy and Partnerships Manager from April 2020 to September 2021, Strategy, Economic Development and Funding Programme Manager from January 2017 to April 2020, and External Funding and Social Regeneration Manager from October 2013 to December 2016. In these positions, they were responsible for various aspects such as strategy creation, economic response and recovery, regeneration vision documents, program management of funded projects, and social regeneration.

Joanne also worked at Chatham World Heritage as the Chatham World Heritage Manager from February 2007 to September 2013. In this role, they coordinated a stakeholder partnership and led projects related to the World Heritage Application and the development of the Great Lines urban heritage park.

Joanne began their career at Medway Council in 2004, holding the positions of Principal European Officer from October 2006 to February 2007 and Interreg IIIC Network Manager from April 2004 to September 2006. In these roles, they were involved in preparing bids for EU funds, managing projects, and leading a pan-European partnership researching military-civilian transition.

Joanne's early work experience includes a role as a Recruitment Consultant at Working Links in 2001.

Joanne Johnson completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Modern Languages (French and German) from the University of Oxford between 1997 and 2001. Joanne then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Management from the University of Greenwich between 2010 and 2011.
