VP Data Science and Engineering at SWARM Engineering

Paul Chen has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Paul started their career as an Intern and Assistant at AXA Advisors, LLC in 2012, where they created projections and illustrations for clients and assisted advisers in meetings. In the same year, they also served as an Advisor and Representative at Perfect Tension Slacklines, providing advice on business expansion and assisting in website development.

In 2017, Paul joined Creatella, a mobile app development company, as a Frontend Developer. Paul used React, React Native, and Node.js to build web and mobile applications. Later that year, they transitioned to SWARM Engineering as a Data Scientist, working on identifying and solving operational challenges in the agri-food supply chain. Paul eventually progressed to the role of Senior Data Scientist, and currently serves as the VP of Data Science and Engineering at SWARM Engineering.

Prior to their roles in the tech industry, Paul worked at UCLA Bike Shop from 2012 to 2017. Paul started as a Mechanic, performing bicycle repair and maintenance, teaching cycling safety classes, and organizing events. Paul then became an Operations Supervisor, managing daily retail and service operations, and contributing to academic research on alternative modes of transportation by building automated data collection nodes using Raspberry Pi.

Paul Chen attended UCLA from 2010 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Mathematics with a Specialization in Computing. Paul'sfield of study was Mathematics. In addition to their formal education, Paul has also obtained certifications in HTML, JavaScript, Responsive Web Design, SOLIDWORKS, SQL, and UX Foundations from Lynda.com. However, no specific information is available regarding when they obtained these certifications.
