Raman Palikarpau

Raman Palikarpau has extensive work experience in the field of data science and computer vision. They started their career as a PHD candidate at Rapid-Rich Object Search Lab in 2016, where they worked on various projects involving deep learning and computer vision. One notable project they led was the Shopee/MLDA-EEE Industrial Project on image quality control, where they developed an AI-based pipeline and synthetic dataset to automate the determination of incomplete products in images.

In 2020, Raman joined Shopee as a Data Scientist/Algorithm Engineer. Their responsibilities included conducting research, designing algorithms, implementing solutions, and analyzing data to tackle deep learning and computer vision challenges in the rapidly evolving e-commerce domain. They were involved in projects such as video highlight generation, where they utilized ranking algorithms and deep learning techniques to generate highlight clips featuring relevant products from user-uploaded videos. Additionally, as a data science intern, Raman improved the performance and efficiency of the Image Search system through deep metric learning, which reduced storage needs and enhanced the quality of retrieved products.

Currently, Raman is working at SWAT Mobility as a Data Scientist, starting in 2022.

Raman Palikarpau has an extensive education history in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Physics. Raman started their academic journey in 2009 at Belarusian State University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics. Raman successfully completed their undergraduate studies in 2014.

Following their undergraduate degree, Raman Palikarpau continued their education at Belarusian State University. From 2014 to 2015, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Physics. This provided him with advanced knowledge and expertise in the field.

In addition to their formal education, Raman Palikarpau also obtained certifications in Machine Learning and Neural Networks for Machine Learning. Raman acquired these certifications from Coursera in October 2022.
