Hannah Walchak

Hannah Walchak has a diverse range of work experience in the field of environmental conservation. Hannah started their career as a Research Assistant at the Dunham Tropical Ecology and Conservation Lab in 2012. Hannah then worked as an Animal Care Intern at the Tony LaRussa Animal Rescue Foundation and as an Intern at the Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue in 2014.

In 2014, Hannah joined UC Davis as a Junior Specialist and stayed in this role until 2015. Hannah then worked at the Town of Easton as a Student Consultant for a brief period before joining the Hawaiian Islands Land Trust in 2016. At the Hawaiian Islands Land Trust, they served as an Intern and Consultant, where they performed various tasks such as writing a management plan, designing maps, researching and developing land-based programs, and working on mapping projects to support property acquisition prioritization strategy.

Hannah also worked as a Program Coordinator at the Ucross High Plains Stewardship Initiative starting in 2016, where they likely managed and coordinated various environmental programs. In 2017, they joined THE ESCONDIDO CREEK CONSERVANCY as a Land Manager and later became the Conservation Director in July 2020. In these roles, Hannah likely played a significant role in the conservation and management of land and natural resources.

Most recently, Hannah has been working at Friends of Illinois Nature Preserves as a Field Rep - Northeast Illinois since January 2023. Following this, they attended Yale University from 2015 to 2017 and obtained a Master of Environmental Management degree. No specific field of study was provided for their master's degree.
