Michael P.

Assistant Project Geospatial Scientist at SWCA

Michael P. has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Michael started their career in 2015 as a Field Organizer for Conservation Voters New Mexico, where they developed communication methods and conducted surveys related to environmental issues. In 2016, they worked as a Program Leader for Putney Student Travel, leading a group of students on a cultural exploration program. Later that year, they became a Bilingual Outreach Coordinator for the New Mexico Direct Caregivers Coalition, conducting outreach and presentations to recruit caregivers.

In 2018, Michael worked as a Mathematics Tutor for Tutor Doctor and as an Education Coordinator and Data Evaluator for Valley Community Interpreters of New Mexico. Michael also engaged in freelance work as a Spanish Translator and Qualified Interpreter.

In 2019, Michael gained experience as an Intern CAD Technician at Precision Surveys, Inc., where they conducted Computer Aided Drafting for various projects. Michael then joined NV5 in 2020 as an Environmental Technician, responsible for GIS support and field work.

Currently, Michael is working as an Assistant Project Geospatial Scientist at SWCA Environmental Consultants, starting in 2023.

Throughout their career, Michael has demonstrated proficiency in GIS, CAD, Spanish translation, outreach, and program coordination.

Michael P. has a diverse education history. In 1992, they attended Naperville North High School, where they completed their high school education. Following this, from 1996 to 2000, Michael pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science at Iowa State University. During this period, they also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from the same university. In 1998-1999, Michael briefly attended Universidad de Murcia, although it is unclear if they received a degree. In 2018, they enrolled at Central New Mexico Community College, where they completed an Associate of Science degree in Geographic Information Systems. Additionally, in June 2018, they obtained a certification in Mental Health First Aid from Mental Health First Aid USA.
