Helena Koumi

Helena Koumi is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in international relations and civil society engagement. Currently serving as Chief Analyst at Migrationsverket since October 2014, Helena previously held the role of Analyst in the Lifos unit, focusing on country of origin information with an emphasis on Asia and Latin America, particularly Afghanistan. Prior to this, Helena worked as a Desk Officer and Coordinator for civil society dialogue at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sweden, and as a Program Officer at Sida, where involvement in the civil society unit was key. Additional experience includes positions as Programme Coordinator at Swedepeace and Program Officer at the Swedish Fellowship of Reconciliation, where efforts concentrated on international arms control and armed violence in Latin America. Helena's background is further enriched by time spent as an Ecumenical Accompanier with the World Council of Churches and advanced education in Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Uppsala, along with a Master's degree in International Relations from Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires.
