Cristian Stănescu

Cristian Stănescu has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Cristian began their career as a Co-Founder and Software Developer at Greedy Software, where they provided programming, web design, and web hosting services to small businesses. During this time, they also developed a system for importing print magazines to an online platform and created algorithms for generating crosswords.

After their time at Greedy Software, Stănescu worked as a Web Developer at KeepMeBooked.com/Skoobr.com, where they were responsible for developing web applications and managing bookings from various rental listing websites. Cristian utilized Ruby on Rails API and Angular.js for this role.

Stănescu then moved on to work as a Web Developer at Upwork, where they collaborated with clients worldwide using various technologies. Cristian maintained legacy applications, proposed solutions based on user stories and requirements, and implemented design patterns. Cristian'sproficiency included Ruby, Ruby on Rails, RSpec, Devise, and Sass.

In 2015, Stănescu co-founded Amarant.ro, the first Romanian online shop dedicated to dietary products. Alongside their wife, they built the project from scratch, providing gluten-free, lactose-free, allergen-free, and sugar-free products.

Stănescu then became a Software Developer at Cardyard, an e-commerce platform specializing in gift cards. Cristian played a key role in building a reliable, scalable, and user-friendly solution using Ruby on Rails and Angular.

In 2017, Stănescu joined SwoopMe, Inc. as a Senior Ruby on Rails Architect. Cristian contributed to scaling development and integrating new features, working with technologies such as Ruby, JavaScript, CoffeeScript, Rails, and React.

From 2018 to 2022, Stănescu worked at Hatched Labs, Inc. as a Team Lead and Principal Engineer, leading a data engineering pod responsible for developing and supporting features for an e-commerce and in-store experience. Cristian'sduties included focusing on best practices, code quality, and long-term data strategy.

Cristian Stănescu obtained their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics. Cristian attended this institution from 2002 to 2006. After completing their Bachelor's degree, they pursued a Master's degree in Computer and Information Systems Security from The Bucharest University of Economic Science, Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics, and Informatics. Cristian studied at this university from 2007 to 2009.

In addition to their formal education, Cristian has also obtained several certifications. In January 2022, they completed the "Data Strategy: Leveraging Data as a Competitive Advantage" course from Emeritus. In May 2021, they received a certification in "High Impact Leadership" from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). Furthermore, they earned a "Model Thinking" certificate from Coursera Verified Certificates in August 2013 and a certification in "Machine Learning" from Coursera in July 2013.
