Kai (Alex) Qin serves as the Vice President for Education and holds multiple leadership positions within the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, including Chair of the Student Activities Subcommittee and Chair of the Neural Networks Technical Committee. At Swinburne University of Technology, Kai has contributed as a Professor, Deputy Director of the Swinburne Space Technology and Industry Institute, and Director of the Swinburne Intelligent Data Analytics Lab, while also leading the Machine Learning and Intelligent Optimisation Group. Furthermore, Kai is an AI4Space Steering Committee Member for SmartSat CRC and has held academic positions at RMIT University and INRIA. Educationally, Kai earned a PhD in Pattern Recognition and Computational Intelligence from Nanyang Technological University Singapore and has degrees from Southeast University, China, and The Affiliated Middle School of Nanjing Normal University.
