Martin Schmid

Martin Schmid is a Member at Swiss Life. Martin was previously the Head of Valuation Life at Baloise Group from June 2007 to September 2019. In this role, they were responsible for leading a small team of life actuaries focusing on IFRS, Local GAAP, MCEV, Solvency II and SST, and ALM. Martin and their team developed models used by the company in the closing of the aforementioned frameworks, using Prophet or C++ for flexibility and speed. The models were used by the management for reporting, forecasts, analysis of changes, and alternative calculations.

In September 2019, Martin Schmid left Baloise Group to join Swiss Life as a Member.

Martin Schmid received their PhD in physics from the University of Bern. Their research interests include theoretical physics and astronomy.
