Erin Empey has a diverse range of work experience in web development and software engineering. Erin started their career as a web developer at UBC School of Journalism in 2009 and later worked as a web developer at Richmond Pawnbrokers from 2011-2011. Erin then joined Kokoro Dance Company as a web developer and designer from 2013-2013, where they implemented a social networking site on Joomla CMS with JomSocial plugin. Erin also worked at COPE in 2013 as a web customization specialist, where they coded child themes for Wordpress and performed CiviCRM theme customization. Erin briefly worked at Blue Square Studio as a web developer in 2014 and then joined Modaselle from 2011-2014 as a web developer, where they developed an e-commerce website and set up social media sites. In 2014, Erin joined Creative Cultural Collaborations Society as a web developer and designer. From 2015-2018, they worked at West Coast Prison Justice Society as a database developer, building a custom Laravel 5.2 application for internal use. Erin currently works as a software engineer at Sycle, a position they have held since July 2018.
Erin Empey has a strong educational background in journalism and international relations. Erin completed their Bachelor of Arts in International Relations at The University of British Columbia from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they obtained their transfer credit degree in International Relations from Langara College from 2004 to 2006. Erin further pursued their education by completing their Master of Journalism degree at The University of British Columbia from 2008 to 2010.
