Juha Rankinen

Director Bolmen Research Station at Sydvatten AB

Juha Rankinen has a diverse work experience in various organizations. In 2018, they founded and became the director of EthnoSphere Outdoors. Prior to that, they worked as the Director Bolmen Research Station at Sydvatten AB starting in 2017. Juha also served as a Lecturer at Högskolan i Halmstad from 2018 onwards. In 2020, they became a Board Member of Lagan Water Council. Previously, they were the Principal of Hylte Trainee School, Adult Education and Swedish for Adult Immigrants, and Hylte Introductory programs in upper secondary school from 2016 to 2017. From 2004 to 2017, they were the Managing Principal and a Wilderness Living Skills Teacher at Wilderness School. Additionally, they have worked as a Field Teacher at Halmstad University since 2009. Juha was also a Board Member of the Association of National Education Norm for Natureguides in 2015 and 2016.

Juha Rankinen's education history includes various academic and vocational experiences. In 1996, they attended Bäckedal Folkhighschool, where they studied primitive skills and woodcraft. In 2002, they enrolled at Umea University to study fungi, specifically taking the course "Fungi 1 - Introduction to mycology." In 2009, Juha attended Linköping University to pursue outdoor education and learning. During the same year, they also studied fungi identification at Gothenburg University. Moving forward, from 2012 to 2015, they attended Karlstad University and Halmstad University, earning a Bachelor's degree in biology. Additionally, in 2015, they obtained a Master's degree in biology with a specialization in stream ecology from Karlstad University. That same year, they received an "Examinor blue level (3 star)" certification from the Swedish Canoe Association in open canoeing. In 2014, Juha also participated in the Principal Programme at Linnaeus University. Finally, in 2018 and 2019, they attended SLU - Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences to deepen their knowledge in fish monitoring techniques. In 2022, they completed the Deck officer class VIII program in "Navigation och Skeppsteknik" at Addwater, enhancing their competency in seafarers' skills.
