Deedee Smith

DeeDee Smith has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Since July 2020, they have been working as the Emobility Marketing Manager - eMotors Global Lead at Syensqo. Prior to that, from April 2017 to February 2023, they served as the Co-Lead Solvay X Factor at Solvay, where they helped establish and lead an employee-driven resource group focused on supporting women in the organization. From March 2019 to July 2020, DeeDee held the position of Sales Development Manager for the NAFTA Automotive Market at Solvay, where they assisted customers in selecting suitable materials for their applications. Before that, from April 2014 to March 2019, they worked as a Product Development Scientist in Crystalline Polymers R&D, managing global projects and developing improvements in semi-crystalline polymers. From September 2011 to April 2014, DeeDee was a Research Scientist at Solvay's New Platforms R&D group, specializing in sustainable chemistries. Prior to their industry experience, they worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of Southern Mississippi from August 2009 to August 2011, focusing on the design and synthesis of reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymers.

DeeDee Smith earned their BA in Chemistry from Agnes Scott College between 1999 and 2003. DeeDee then pursued their PhD in Organic Chemistry at Northwestern University from 2003 to 2009. Additionally, they obtained a certification in "UB1x: Unconscious Bias: From Awareness to Action" from Catalyst in 2018.
