Howard Chu

CTO and Founder, V.P. R&D at Symas

Howard Chu began their career in 1986 as a Systems Research Programmer at the University of Michigan. In 1991, they moved to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a Member of Technical Staff. Howard then joined Locus Computing Corp. in 1995 as a Senior Member of Technical Staff. In 1996, they joined Platinum Technology as a Principle Member of Technical Staff. Finally, in 1999, they founded Symas Corp. and became the CTO and V.P. of R&D. At Symas Corp., they designed and led the implementation of novel applications of LDAP technology to enterprise-scale identity, resource, and information management problems. As a member of the OpenLDAP core team, they helped set the direction for the OpenLDAP Project and drove the development of public and private LDAP enhancements at all levels of design and implementation.

Howard Chu attended the University of Michigan from 1984 to 1990, where they completed a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
