Ulrich Viereck

Ulrich Viereck has extensive work experience in the fields of machine learning, robotics, and engineering. Ulrich is currently employed at Symbotic as a Principal Machine Learning Scientist, starting in September 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Berkshire Grey from February 2020 to August 2022 as a Senior Software Engineer, where they specialized in AI and robotics for automated omni-channel fulfillment. From September 2014 to January 2020, Ulrich was a Research Assistant in Robotics at Northeastern University, focusing on developing new methods for robot manipulation using machine learning and vision algorithms. Ulrich also had an internship as a Robotics Intern at iRobot from June 2018 to October 2018, where they trained object detectors and worked with deep learning frameworks. Before that, Ulrich worked as a Hardware/Software Engineer at Siemens from November 2010 to August 2014, where they were responsible for the development and testing of circuit boards. Ulrich also worked as a Test Engineer at MB-technology NA LLC from April 2008 to October 2010, designing and implementing test systems for automotive control units. Ulrich started their career as an Intern at MBtech Group GmbH & Co. KGaA in 2006. Ulrich holds a study project experience from the University of Cadiz in 2004 and a technical assistant role at the Institute for Product Engineering, University of Karlsruhe in 2003. Ulrich completed their Final School Project at the Technical High School Emmendingen in 2001.

Ulrich Viereck completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Computer Science (Robotics) from Northeastern University during the period of 2014 to 2020. Prior to that, they pursued a Masters (Dipl.-Ing.) in Electrical Engineering and IT from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) between 2001 and 2008. Ulrich Viereck obtained the certification of Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from Northeastern University in May 2020.
