Bas Wels

Bas Wels currently serves as the Director of Lipids Development and Manufacturing at Symeres, where responsibilities include developing a GMP manufacturing platform for lipids and specialized small-scale syntheses, leading technical delivery across multiple sites. Previously, Bas Wels held various senior roles at Croda from August 2011 to June 2023, including Head of Process Chemistry at Croda Health Care and Global Research & Technology Manager for Industrial Chemicals and New Technologies. Earlier experience encompasses positions at IFF as Manager of Process Development, and roles at Mercachem BV, culminating in a Group Leader position, and an initial scientific role at Universiteit Utrecht. Bas Wels holds a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry and a degree in Chemistry from Utrecht University.
