Laurence Koehrsen, AIA has over 20 years of experience in the architecture industry. Laurence is currently working at SMMA as a Project Architect/Associate. Prior to their current role, they worked at Perkins+Will as a Project Manager, where they managed multiple project teams in the Science and Technology and Healthcare studios. Laurence was responsible for proposals, contract negotiations, design, production planning and management, financial oversight, and staffing. Before that, Laurence worked at Steffian Bradley Architects as a Project Manager/Associate, where they had a studio leadership role at a regional specialist health care firm. Laurence managed internal and external design teams, handled all client contact, design, production management, regulatory submissions, contracts, administration, financial review, and billing. Laurence also worked at ARC/Architectural Resources Cambridge as a Project Architect/Associate. During their time there, they worked on base building and renovation projects in various sectors such as healthcare, institutional, science and technology, education, and athletics. Laurence worked across the architecture and interior architecture studios. Prior to that, Laurence worked at FORMA Design, Inc. as an Architect/Associate and at The M Group as a Staff Architect. Laurence started their career as a Graduate Assistant at Miami University and also worked as a Marketing Associate at Berry Network Inc. Throughout their career, Laurence has shown proficiency in various areas of architecture and has consistently demonstrated strong project management skills.

Laurence Koehrsen, AIA completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English from Wittenberg University in the years 1987 to 1991. Following that, they pursued their Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree from Miami University from 1994 to 1997, specializing in the field of Architecture.

In addition to their educational background, Laurence Koehrsen has obtained various certifications. In March 2020, they became a Safety Assessment Program Evaluator from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services. Furthermore, Laurence is a Licensed Architect in the Commonwealth of Virginia, which they achieved in September 2007.
