Dr. Timo Bänziger

Dr. Timo Bänziger has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Dr. Timo has recent experience at SYNAOS, where they have been serving as the Head of Product since May 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Product Manager at the same company from July 2020 to May 2022.

Before joining SYNAOS, Dr. Bänziger worked at MAN Truck & Bus SE from 2017 to 2020. At MAN Truck & Bus SE, they held several roles including Product Owner (Infrastructure & Platform), Machine Learning Engineer (Autonomous Driving), and Project Manager. In these roles, they worked on sensor data processing, environment modeling, sensor concepts for autonomous driving trucks and buses, calibration process development, and coordination of research activities.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Bänziger worked as a Doktorand - Intelligente Assistenzroboter at Volkswagen AG from 2015 to 2017, as a Softwareingenieur at ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences from 2014 to 2015, and as a Masterarbeit researcher at the University of California Berkeley in 2013. Dr. Timo also gained work experience at Alstom Power, AUDI AG, Meyer Burger AG, and Prof. Dr. K. Wegener, Institut für Werkzeugmaschinen und Fertigung, ETH Zürich, in various assistant and internship roles.

Dr. Timo Bänziger completed their education at ETH Zürich. Dr. Timo earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Maschinenbauingenieurwissenschaften (Produktionstechnik) from 2009 to 2012. Dr. Timo continued their studies at ETH Zürich and obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Maschinenbauingenieurwissenschaften (Mechanics, Structures and Manufacturing) from 2012 to 2014. Dr. Bänziger further pursued their education at ETH Zürich and completed a Doktor der Wissenschaften (Dr. sc.) in Maschinenbau from 2015 to 2018.

In addition to their formal education, Dr. Bänziger has obtained several certifications. Dr. Timo earned a Deep Learning Nanodegree from Udacity in August 2019. Dr. Timo also obtained a Doctor of Sciences certification from ETH Zurich in June 2019. Furthermore, they hold a Private Pilot Licence (PPL(A)) from the Federal Office of Civil Aviation Switzerland acquired in July 2015. Additionally, Dr. Bänziger is a Certified Scrum Product Owner certified by the Scrum Alliance in June 2019.
