Ahmed Barakat

Ahmed Barakat has a work experience spanning several years in various roles and companies. Ahmed started their career in 2012 as an MEP Engineer at Fast Building Contracting, where they were responsible for setting specifications, monitoring materials, and interpreting construction drawings. In 2016, they joined Enova by Veolia as an Operations Engineer, where they responded to electrical equipment problems, managed preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensured clients received the required standard of services. Ahmed then advanced to become an Assistant Manager of Facility and Operations, managing different projects and communities. In 2020, they joined Synaptic Solar as a Permitting Manager, overseeing the approval of installation projects by relevant authorities. Ahmed progressed through roles such as Installation Manager, Service Manager, and Operations Manager, before reaching their current position as the Head of Operations - Commercial Solar. In this role, they oversee the operational aspects of commercial solar projects, ensuring smooth execution and maximizing efficiency.

Ahmed Barakat completed their Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Instrumentation & Control from Ajman University, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. Ahmed further pursued their education at the University of Wollongong from 2013 to 2015, earning a Master of Engineering Management degree in the field of Engineering/Management.

In addition to their formal education, Ahmed has obtained various certifications. In December 2015, they became a Certified Electrical Engineer (Electrical work practicing) through the Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA). Ahmed then acquired the Contract and Commercial Management Practitioner (ACCM) certification from IACCM in November 2018. In January 2019, they obtained the Certified Energy Manager® (CEM®) certification from the Association of Energy Engineers, followed by the LEED® Green Associate™ certification from the U.S. Green Building Council in August 2019. Ahmed was awarded the Certified Facility Manager® (CFM®) certification by IFMA in January 2020 and completed the Project Management Simplified course on LinkedIn in July 2020.

Continuing their professional development, Ahmed obtained the Sonnen eco and ecolinx Certification Course from sonnen, Inc. in October 2021 and the PV Associate (PVA) certification from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners in August 2022.
