Alain Coutu has worked in the software development industry since 1980. Alain began their career at the Department of National Defence (DND) as a CELE. In 1991, they worked as a Communication Engineer at the North American Air Defence Modernization PMO. From 1994 to 1998, they worked at Aerospace Engineering and Test Establishment as the Deputy Officer-in-Charge Information Services, where they managed a network of mini and macro VAX computers, workstations and PCs. In 1998, they began working as a Software Engineer at the NORAD System Support Facility in Tyndall AFB, Florida. During this time, they performed software maintenance and development on a flight plan processing system and a real time air defense system. From 2000 to 2004, they were a Graduate Student at Florida State University. In 2004, they began working as the Command and Control Software Support Officer at the Aerospace and Telecommunications Engineering Support Squadron. From 2006 to 2009, they worked at Avaya as the Software Development Manager, where they managed various software development teams responsible for developing application features for Enterprise Internet Protocol Public Branch Exchanges. From 2009 to 2014, they worked at Truck-Right Data Management Inc. as the Project and Software Development Manager, where they managed a team of six developers. Since 2017, they have been the Director of Software Development at Synergem Technologies, Inc.
Alain Coutu obtained their Bachelor degree in Computer Science with a Minor in Management from College Militaire Royal de St-Jean between 1980 and 1985. Alain then went on to earn their Master degree in Science (Software Engineering) from Florida State University between 2000 and 2003.
