John Welch

John Welch is an experienced professional in government relations and policy advising, currently serving as the Government Relations Manager at Synergy since January 2024. Prior to this role, John held several positions at the Department of the Premier and Cabinet of WA from February 2018 to February 2024, including Principal Policy Advisor and Senior Policy Advisor, specializing in industrial relations and workplace health and safety. From April 2003 to February 2018, John was the Secretary at WAPOU, where responsibilities included strategic policy direction and staff leadership. Earlier career highlights include work as a Regional Officer for NASUWT, encompassing oversight of over 10,000 members in the London Region, and as a Communications and Publications Officer at the London Borough of Camden. John also brings sales expertise from a brief tenure as Sales Manager for Tribune Newspaper. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Politics and Political Economics from the University of East Anglia, earned between 1985 and 1990.
