Thomas J. Macha

Regional Orthopedic Director at Synergy Health Partners

Dr. Thomas J. Macha first joined Synergy Health Partners in 2015 as a Surgicalist. He became the Regional Orthopedic Director in 2020 where he oversees several programs.

Concurrently, he is the team lead for the Synergy Orthopedic Trauma team at SouthCoast Health in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He has served on multiple committees during his time with SouthCoast, and notably held the position of Orthopedic Trauma Director during the hospital’s successful transition to Level II Trauma Center designation. He is also a Fellow with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Previously, Dr. Macha was a private practice general orthopedic surgeon with a focus on trauma, sports medicine, and primary total joints. He worked for two decades out of the Slocum Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, which staffed twenty orthopedic specialists, three nonsurgical sports medicine specialists and over 200 support staff.

During this time, he also held multiple hospital appointments throughout Eugene and Springfield, Oregon. Before completing his medical education, internship, and residency for orthopedics, Dr. Macha worked as a cardiovascular technologist at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Macha earned his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his Bachelor of Science from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
