Dr. Nizam Uddin Ahmed has extensive work experience in the field of public health, with a focus on immunization, health system strengthening, and COVID-19 response. Dr. Nizam Uddin currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the GAVI CSO Steering Committee, where they work towards achieving the shared vision and impact of the Global Partnership for immunization.
In addition, Dr. Ahmed has held leadership positions in various organizations. Dr. Nizam Uddin was the Chief Executive Officer of Synesis IT's Synesis Health division, where they oversaw the development and implementation of national telehealth services and health systems.
Dr. Nizam Uddin also co-founded and served as the Executive Director of the Shastho Shurokkha Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering communities and individuals in health, education, and social development. Dr. Nizam Uddin also served as the Director of the Health, Population, and Nutrition sector, overseeing the management, implementation, and collaboration with government and partners.
Dr. Ahmed's experience also includes working as a Program Director at Counterpart International, where they managed child survival programs in Uzbekistan, focusing on strategic direction, program development, and partnership.
Furthermore, they worked with UNDP as a Behavior Change Intervention Specialist in the National HIV/AIDS program. Dr. Nizam Uddin provided technical support, designed programming guidelines, and facilitated collaboration between government and NGOs.
Dr. Ahmed began their career with CARE International, where they held various positions in project coordination, training, and program management. Dr. Nizam Uddin was responsible for public health program management and implementation, with a focus on HIV/AIDS prevention and child survival.

Dr. Nizam Uddin Ahmed began their education in 1980 at Rangpur Medical College in Bangladesh. Dr. Nizam Uddin pursued a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)/MD degree and completed it in 1986. Later, in 1996, they attended the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, where they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Public Health in Developing Countries.
