Anil Karanam currently serves as the Executive Director of R&D at Synopsys Inc, leading efforts in IC Validator Physical Verification and ESD Sign-Off since July 2023. Karanam has a longstanding tenure at Synopsys, spanning from August 2004 to July 2022, during which various roles included Group Director of R&D, Senior Director of R&D, and R&D Director, focusing on platform development for RET, litho modeling, layout verification, and geometric operations. Previous experience includes contributions as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Department of Computer Science and as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Scientific Computation Research Center, as well as a graduate internship at Hewlett-Packard. Karanam holds a PhD and MS in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
