Mark Schimmel is an accomplished engineer with extensive experience in compiler development and optimization. Beginning a career as a Software Engineer at Irvine Compiler in 1988, Mark worked on Ada compiler development for the Intel I960. Subsequent roles included maintaining compilers for PowerPC and ARC processors at ARC International and Rational Software Corporation, followed by improvements to template support at Borland. From 2005 to 2013, Mark served as a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Wind River Incorporated, focusing on the Diab C/C++ compiler. Currently, Mark is an R&D Engineer at Synopsys, specializing in Clang/LLVM compiler development for the ARC processor. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Sciences from Biola University and completed further studies in the same field at UC Irvine.
