Michael Lam

Michael Lam is currently serving as Senior Director of Research and Development at Synopsys Inc since May 2023, after a long tenure at Mentor Graphics where roles included Director of Research and Development and Director of Engineering. At Mentor Graphics, Michael led a global engineering team focusing on lithography modeling critical to semiconductor manufacturing, overseeing various advanced modeling and calibration tools. Prior experience includes roles as Principal Engineer and Staff Engineer, specializing in EUV and optical modeling, as well as founding CommandCAD, Inc., a business in Design for Manufacturability for semiconductor manufacturing. Michael holds a PhD and MS in Applied Science and Technology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BS/BA in Physics and Math from UC San Diego.
