Kareem Sharaf

Kareem Sharaf has a range of experience in various roles and industries. Kareem is currently working as an Insights Visualization Engineer at Syntasa since August 2021. Prior to this, they were a Data Analyst at New South Consulting from July 2020 to August 2021, where they analyzed political fundraising data and developed the firm's first database. Kareem'sefforts resulted in improved district targeting and a 40% increase in donations.

Before that, Kareem worked as a Data Analyst at IOM - UN Migration from August 2019 to March 2020. In this role, they managed the International Forum on Migration Statistics and conducted research with senior data scientists in the United Nations and national statistical offices. Kareem also secured government-funded grants totaling €280,000 and ensured grant compliance.

From November 2016 to August 2019, Kareem served as a Policy Analyst at Dennis Halpin, Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office. Kareem assisted in writing and editing policy papers and provided administrative support for government and think tank clients. Kareem was also an editor and contributor to "Comfort Women: A Movement for Justice and Women's Rights in the United States."

Kareem also gained experience as a Policy Intern at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, where they composed reports on transatlantic digital policy and coordinated logistics for the Stockholm China Forum. Additionally, they worked as an Administrative Assistant at Asia Policy Point, transcribing conversations and providing administrative support to members of the Japanese National Diet.

In 2016, Kareem was a Research Intern at the US-Korea Institute at Johns Hopkins SAIS, where they published daily newsletters on US policy towards North Korea and coordinated diplomatic events focused on Asia-Pacific policy. Kareem began their career as an English Foreign Language Teacher with EPIK (English Program in Korea), creating and managing curriculum and leading English education workshops.

Kareem Sharaf began their education in 2009 at Virginia Commonwealth University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dual Degree - International Relations and Political Science. Kareem completed this program in 2012.

In 2017, Kareem enrolled in the Hertie School, where they pursued a Master of International Affairs degree with a focus on Finance and Trade. Kareem completed this program in 2019.

During their time at Hertie School, in 2018, Kareem also participated in an International Program Exchange at The University of Tokyo, where they studied Public Policy. This exchange program lasted for one year and ended in 2019.
