Kirk Borne

Kirk Borne is an advisor at SYNTASA and a data scientist with over 25 years of experience. Kirk has worked with both federal and commercial clients, as well as nonprofit organizations. In their current role, they help clients develop predictive and prescriptive analytics models.

Borne began their career as a software engineer, but they soon realized that their true passion was working with data. Kirk transitioned into data science and has since been involved in a wide variety of projects, including human resources, organizational change, marketing, customer engagement, behavior analytics, risk mitigation, and novelty discovery.

In 2015, Borne became the first data science fellow at Booz Allen Hamilton. In this role, they worked to socialize data science across different organizations and industries. Kirk also mentored young data scientists and helped them develop their skills.

Borne is a thought leader in the data science community and has written extensively on the subject. In 2017, they published a book called "A Growth Hacker's Journey: My Mini-Theirtory of Data Science." In it, they chronicle their own journey in the field of data science and provides readers with insight into the various projects they have worked on over the years.

Kirk Borne received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Astronomy from Caltech and a B.S. in Physics from Louisiana State University. Kirk also has a diploma in College Prep from Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Nebraska.
