Lorraine Ling, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Lorraine currently works as a Scientist at SyntheX, Inc. since February 2021. Prior to that, they were a Course Instructor at The Carpentries starting in January 2017.
From 2015 to February 2021, Lorraine held the position of Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University School of Medicine. Before that, they were a Graduate Student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from August 2008 to September 2014. During their time at MIT, Lorraine also served as an Instructor for an intensive two-week laboratory course and as a Teaching Assistant for an undergraduate introductory laboratory course.
Additionally, Lorraine has worked as a Lab Technician at the University of California, Berkeley from April 2007 to June 2008, and as an Art Instructor at LeConte Elementary School from September 2004 to June 2007. At LeConte, they were involved in designing art projects, developing lesson plans, organizing exhibitions, and coordinating the Krayola Art Club. Lastly, they gained research experience as a Student Researcher at Institut Für Technische Biochemie ITB from June 2006 to September 2006.
Lorraine Ling, Ph.D. obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Molecular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Following their undergraduate education, Lorraine pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2008 to 2014.
