As the largest distributor in the Bahamas, Sysco Bahamas Food Services, known as BFS, services both the foodservice and retail sectors with a broad-line selection of meats, poultry, seafood, produce, dairy, frozen foods, canned and dry products, beverages, chemicals, paper and disposables, kitchen equipment and smallwares under international, local and proprietary brand names. BFS customers include restaurants, resorts, hotels and smaller properties, institutional, government, other distributors and retail outlets from gas stations to the largest grocery chains throughout the Bahamas. Primary islands for distribution include New Providence (Nassau), Grand Bahama (Freeport), Abaco (Marsh Harbor and Hope Town), Eleuthera, the Exumas, Long Island, San Salvador and Bimini. Many other smaller properties are also serviced by BFS including private islands and resort cays. BFS operates in a newly-constructed, 160,000 square foot complex located on 19 acres on New Providence island. The state-of-the-art complex includes produce, meat, and general purpose high-racked coolers and freezers. In addition,the complex features executive and operational offices, a test kitchen complete with on-site professional chef, a food-processing room, a vehicle maintenance and fueling facility, extensive truck and vehicle parking, sophisticated communications and security systems, and self-sufficiency of water, sewer, and backup-power generation utilities. The facilities are designed for double or triple expansions of all functional areas.
