Phillip McKenzie Smith has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries and roles. Phillip started their career in 1998 at Gateway as a Major Account Executive and Team Leader, where they exceeded revenue targets for 13 consecutive months. In 2000, they became a Sun-On-Line Account Manager at Sun Microsystems, where they provided value-added services to improve sales effectiveness.
From 2002 to 2007, Phillip worked at Compuware as a Business Development and Account Manager, selling software testing solutions. Phillip achieved significant success and became the first person in the EMEA DevPartner group to reach the President's Club in 5 years.
In 2009, Phillip volunteered at Challenges Worldwide before joining Rally Software as a Territory Sales Manager for EMEA. Phillip was responsible for new customer development and end-to-end sales cycle management. Phillip then became a Team Leader for DACH and Israel, driving operational leadership and revenue performance in expansion markets. In 2013, they moved up to becoming the EMEA Lead for Global Accounts, collaborating with their U.S. peers to generate revenue from global technology companies.
In 2015, Rally Software was acquired by CA Technologies, and Phillip became the EMEA Lead for Global Accounts in the Agile BU. Phillip continued collaborating with their U.S. counterparts until 2016 when they transitioned to Planview LeanKit.
At Planview LeanKit, Phillip held several roles. Phillip was initially the Managing Director for EMEA, where they built and led the Sales and Pre-Sales/Post-Sales teams across the region, achieving significant growth and revenue. Phillip then became the Regional Practice Director for Engineering Operations, where they led a sales team responsible for new acquisition and expansion.
After their tenure at Planview LeanKit, Phillip took a career break in 2022 before joining Tabnine as the Director of Sales for EMEA in 2023.
Phillip McKenzie Smith obtained their MBA with Merit from the TIAS School for Business and Society, starting in 2007 and completing it in 2008. In addition, they received certifications such as Certified SAFe Agilist from Scaled Agile, Inc. in October 2015, Certified Scrum Master from Scrum Alliance in October 2009, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in January 2021.
