Andy Simpson

Principal GIS Applications/systems Engineer at Tacoma Public Utilities

Andy Simpson has a progressive work history in GIS and systems analysis. Starting in 2007 at the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency as a Planning/GIS Analyst II, they developed GIS standards, managed projects, and participated in regional planning efforts. Moving to the City of Sparks in 2012 as a GIS Specialist, they oversaw the GIS program before joining Tacoma Water in 2014. At Tacoma Water, Andy held various roles, starting as a Senior GIS Analyst, then Senior Technical GIS Analyst, and finally as a GIS Supervisor. Currently, they are a Principal Business Systems Analyst at Tacoma Power, where they evaluate staff performance and manages work teams. Throughout their career, Andy demonstrated strong leadership, technical skills, and a focus on GIS technology development.

Andy Simpson holds a B.S. in Geography from the University of Nevada, Reno, earned in 2001. In 2020, they obtained a Certificate in Python Programming from the University of Washington. Additionally, from 2016 to 2020, Andy completed a Certificate in Operations Management and Supervision at Tacoma Community College.
